Trump’s Excuse for Missing Son’s Wedding Falls Apart as His Golf Schedule Surfaces
Donald Trump’s latest excuse for skipping his own son’s wedding is running into a problem: there always seems to be enough time for golf.
According to a new report from the Daily Beast, Trump claimed it was “not good timing” to attend Donald Trump Jr.’s upcoming wedding in the Bahamas because of his presidential responsibilities and the Memorial Day holiday. But critics immediately pointed out that the president has managed to squeeze in repeated golf trips throughout some of the most volatile stretches of his second term, including during the ongoing Iran conflict.
The controversy exploded after The Daily Beast examined Trump’s schedule and found that the president has frequently escaped Washington for weekends at his golf clubs despite claiming he was too busy to attend his eldest son’s wedding. The report noted that Trump’s original public schedule showed plans to travel to his Bedminster golf resort in New Jersey before the White House abruptly reshuffled the itinerary after backlash started building.
“That claim did not align with the president’s initial public schedule for the weekend,” the report stated, noting that Trump had originally planned another golf getaway before reversing course.
The optics are brutal even by Trump standards. This is the same president who has spent years attacking political opponents as lazy, weak, or absent while racking up a golf schedule so extensive that it has become one of the defining punchlines of both of his presidencies. During his first term, Trump repeatedly blasted Barack Obama over golfing, only to far surpass Obama’s golf outings once in office.
Now, according to the Daily Beast analysis, Trump has taken golf trips 14 times since the Iran war began.
The report laid out a long list of weekends Trump allegedly spent at golf properties this spring, including weekends beginning March 7, March 13, March 21, March 28, April 24, and May 2. It also noted that after returning from a state visit to China in mid-May, Trump reportedly headed straight to his Virginia golf club instead of remaining in Washington.
Perhaps most awkwardly, the report also noted that Trump skipped a “Rededicate 250” faith event on the National Mall in favor of a golf outing, choosing instead to appear virtually.
That detail only added fuel to the perception that Trump’s “too busy” explanation was less about presidential duty and more about priorities.
The timing is especially striking because reports surrounding Donald Trump Jr. and his fiancée Bettina Anderson suggest the couple is eager to move quickly. A recent Page Six report described the pair as being in a “hurry to get hitched.”
The White House has not publicly explained why a president capable of repeatedly flying to golf resorts during wartime suddenly cannot spare time for a family wedding in the Bahamas. But online critics and political observers wasted little time drawing their own conclusions.

I do not care if he showed up for his despicable son. He doesn't show up for America, for the people, for the office of the president. His selfish personality is widely known. We need to focus on the things that matter.
No surprise. He doesn't like most of his kids, just the one he lusts after.
